Melbourne Flower Show - Emergence Show Garden 2017
29TH MARCH - 2ND APRIL 2017
ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING & CARLTON GARDENS
During the epoch, essential foundations were put in place to provide the generators of our landscapes, their inhabitants and the interrelationships between them. Emergence is an expression of this creative time; symbolised through the emerging granite Stone as the genesis and ‘spirit’ of the design. Stone is the centre; the datum; the beginni
ngs of this interconnected landscape, and the convergence of relationships between its materials, distinct planting, water, artwork, and mood lighting and misting. Valuable and profound Indigenous understandings about landscapes and their sustaining and seasonal relationships are acknowledged through Fish (Lin Onus, 1991-represented in glass). Escarpment (represented in glass) not only tributes the extent of this knowledge through subtle but present fish fossils, but also completes this garden as an integrated system through the continuity of granite, and presents the notion of secluded waterholes nourishing life.
